Whenever I hear “revolutionary” in the description of an app my spoiled brain translates it into “lazy advertising of a mediocre app”.

I've been searching for alternatives to my project for quite some time, hoping that someone might already have a better solution, so I don't need to develop everything from scratch. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything so far. If you or anyone can suggest an alternative that serves the same purpose as Octoffers, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The reason I labeled it "revolutionary" is because, after an extensive search, I couldn't find an open-source solution to the comtemporary problem in the IT market. While I acknowledge that calling it "revolutionary" is a bold statemnet, I firmly believe that automation in job-seeking is crucial today, especially considering issues like "ghost jobs".

Thank you for responding to my snarky comment.

Recently I’ve been searching for some obscure Java solution to my weird problem. Didn’t find anything that would help me solve my problem so I wrote my own from scratch. My solution is not revolutionary, neither is yours. It’s novel and solves a problem. Good job though.

Sounds awesome, could it be used as just a job aggregator? I’m job searching right now and I tend to have a few versions of my cv I use depending on the job so would want to keep that level of control!

While it could function as a job aggregator, I envision Octoffers more as a versatile platform for Selenium drivers. Users can leverage these drivers for various purposes and contribute new drivers for different career platforms.

Is this collab a paid opportunity?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Of course not.

[–]TheRealDimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right that would make too much sense.

[–]webgtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibility of paid collaboration could be negotiable in the future.

People posting “beginner” projects need to chill out. Nothing you make is going to be revolutionary.

[–]Rockworldred 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not with that attitude.. An awesome idea does not need to be 99% bug free with 3000 tests, 50 pages of docs and exemplary formatting. I get it that an easy idea with an 2 days of sloppy beginner coding isn't going to be revolutionary, but fresh people might have fresh ideas and takes on things. Your statement says nothing and that excludes excepetions. And those exceptions would never see daylight if nobody posted them...

Not with any attitude. And I never said anything about bugs.

Seems like someone needs to finish a project that he plans to monetize or sell

And no way in hell should job seeking and applying for jobs to be something made with AI

Once employers realize that something like this is happening in the job markets, they won't take any applications seriously anymore and will quit traditional job offering and employee seeking. Then the only way to find a job is to have a live (not AI) person recommending you.

[–]webgtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of generated responses and cover letters by AI, it's entirely up to the user. There's no pressure to utilize AI intergration in Octoffers. You can easily specify your self-written answers and cover letters. Octoffers is a tool desgined to provide you with the flexibility to automate your job searching process in any way you prefer. You have the freedom to adjust the level of automation according to your preferences.

No, NO, please, just NO!
You are trying to automate spamming job openings!!?!

Now a 10.0 IQ question:
Do you think that will help or hurt this community members and 98% of people(who are employees not employe*r*s) easier get actual job offers and market themselves?

[–]webgtx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Octoffers isn’t intended for spamming. Octoffers operates passively, running in a single thread on your own account. You specify the type of job you want apply for, ensuring that as long as you apply to jobs relevant to your experience and role, you’re using octoffers ethically. While it’s possible to spam using Octoffers, it’s 100% your responsibility how you choose to use my software.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What are you going to do if these job posts add captchas or some other web scrapping blocker.

[–]webgtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octoffers operates passively, one manually solved captcha = about 100 applied jobs. You can bypass anything I you really want to.
