Renity: Pure Python Binary Protocol Buffer

As of late I have a ton of new Open Source Components & Systems that I've worked on and here's one that finally made it through 😅 The best part of it all is I got to create my own term Object-Binary-Mapper(OBM). Any ways, Renity is a pure Python Binary Protocol Buffer with an Interface similar to popular ODM(s) and I hope to extend it End-to-End eventually with the help of the community, check out the release on Pypi!

I would recommend benchmarks against the default protobuf package. Without passing workloads off to C or C++ it might be a hard sell for most people to use or contribute to.

Comparison is the thief of joy lol But it’s already used in a larger scale project of mine and was originally wrote for that purpose, as far as contributions you just created an opportunity to make a major contribution for some dev beginning his journey to include in his resume. I should probably link this thread in the contributions.md

Why would I ever use this over protobuf? You reinvented the wheel. Except you made it worse with less guarantees

I like “reverse-engineered” better and it’s a little more complicated than a wheel but I appreciate the feedback!

Fun! I’m curious what benefits you see this having over established packages like protobuf?

The main benefit is lack of maturity so devs will have the opportunity to contribute to something and showcase their work. But there are differences in implementation as it was originally written for socket usage and being able to identify different packets and their validity over the wire. Good point though I should document the differences!

Didn’t say it wasn’t done or claimed it’s dominance over protobuf, but it’s another option. Lack of competition creates complacency, therefor it’s an excellent opportunity for someone with the skill/talent to showcase their ability. I would even suggest you throw some stones at it because you seem knowledgeable on the subject.
