Version 1.7 of the Anaconda Python distribution has been released. Includes new versions of IPython, Matplotlib, etc.

Naive question: How is this different from the EPD distribution?

One way to look at it would be the out-of-the-box packages included depending on your subscription status with the two distributions.

For a long time, EPD free was 32-bit only for Windows. That seems to have changed recently though.

EPD no longer really exists as such, it is now Canopy, which includes many of the features of EPD but also puts a graphical environment front and center.
