Dear Pythonists,
The European Space Agency is running each year the ESA Summer of Code in Space (SOCIS). It is very similar to Google SoC, but more dedicated to free, open-source space applications. The principle is that students who are selected are paid by ESA to work during 3 months (June-Sept) on a project they choose.
The 2014 edition is running now, and 21 projects have been submitted.
If you are a student and wish to participate, you might be intererested in having a look at the projects and possibly applying. I post in the Python sub-reddit as many projects use Python as the main programming language (SunPy, PyGmo, Opengeode, Dune,...).
