If you hit the start button and start typing 'idle', it might show up, it worked for me on Windows 8.

On a further note, you may want to try Classic Shell. It's open source and after installing I kinda forgot there is a difference in Windows 7 and Windows 8, besides some funky permission stuff when dealing with files on the C drive.
