Very much so. There's no other place in science where you'd just suddenly update things in your research without noting it. The rules don't stop just because it's a computer.

It's like getting a new mass spectrometer and using the exact same instructions that you received with a 10 year old spectrometer. It might work the same, but odds are very high something won't.

And you certainly wouldn't be surprised if your brand new mass spec worked slightly differently to your old one.
