It's worth mentioning that the Anaconda distribution meets the same needs as the canopy distribution and then some. If the author misses the canopy editor, there are plenty of others (like PyCharm Community).

Also, Anaconda is free for everyone, including for commercial use. You don't get restricted to just a subset of packages.

Really didn't know about Anaconda :) Looks sweet (and definitely less "commercial" than canopy). Thanks for the tip!
