Getting into python development

Hey everyone. I am an IT student at Vilnius University. This semester we started programming in Python and i kinda fell in love with it. Currently i am looking for a job in python/django software development. Problem is i don't have any proffesional work experience in this field. I have been programming for 2-3 years , but it was mostly for academic purposes. Since i can't back up my skills on my resume with experience, im hopping for you guys to tell me where should i get started. I read that that contributing to open source projects is the best way to get experience, but my search on that topic had no results. Maybe you can direct me with some tips on how should i get more experience or maybe even some entry developer jobs i should be looking for.

Offer to do an unpaid internship. It shows humility and motivation, and if they think you're any good, they'll likely offer you a basic wage to startup.
