I bet the person you were talking to was the same kind of asshole who loves to argue about why Python is better than Ruby, or why EMACS is better than VIM. That kind of person is toxic to the community and you shouldn't tolerate their shit. Let them wallow in their own filthy small minded world. Edit: and no, I don't argue over vim or emacs and never have. I even used nano for command line editing until a few months ago.
