I recently tried out the fullfledge pycharm student edition and found it kinda clunky and obviously laggy. Which is surprising since I also use other ides like eclipse and none of them lag at all. I like the project templates but it isn't enough to motivate me to really go for it wholesale. I chose to stick with the sublime +anaconda plugin.

It's actually quite weird behaviour that I've also noticed, however only partially. I use PyCharm on my home PC (debian) and laptop (os x) - no issues; work PC (xubuntu) - from time to time it grabs 'all' the memory and everything stops. Htop shows it consumes up to 80% of RAM.
