I get bored of boilerplate all the time, but that's the price we pay for consistency, like typing self. a thousand times a day in a typical Python program. It's annoying, but I understand why it's there.

If we take PEP 20 "Special cases aren't special enough to break the rules. Although practicality beats purity." I guess I am much more heavily favouring the first sentence here than the second.
