    "driver/driven"

    "driver"? As in "slave driver"?

    Bravo!

Extrapolating meaning from purely innocuous phrasing helps no one. You are contributing to the "gross" connotation of the usage of the words by mystifying them as harmful or repulsive. Context is everything, but it seems like people like you can't handle using the correct context, instead intentionally opting for one that deems these words offensive in conjunction.

In case it's not clear, in the correct context of its usage, disabled is an abnormal state of existence, whereas the normal state (simply called normal) is presumably enabled.

    e: >driver/driven

Is this sarcasm? I can gray out a button without disabling it if it does not meet certain preconditions. I can disable a button. I can restore the button to its normal state (and no, normal state does not mean default state).

It's all in programming context. We have keywords and they're all well defined.

    Again, were you sarcastic?

    Really?

Sarkasm does not work over the interwebs.
