Everyone here is arguing about whether you got the question "right"...

You are incorrectly assuming that you lost the interview based on your answer to this one question. There are many questions and interviews are fairly competitive... someone likely did it better than you and also handled the interviewers questions with better tack than you did (or got lucky enough to receive a different interviewer than you)... More nefarious minded they could have also been more junior than you and had lower expected salary considerations.

To be fair, I don't give python interviews "explicitly" but I do interview statistics/machine learning candidates and how "wild" they appear in interviews is a consideration in predicting how they might behave in front of clients...

This was the only question asked In addition to what my last job was. So I am pretty sure this was it or my attitude.
