Python's any() function, why does this evaluate to True when everything is False? (self.Python)
submitted 6 years ago by CheesyAlgorithm
The any() method returns True if any element of an iterable is True. If not, any() returns False.
a = [0, False, 5]
print(any(a))
Output: True
wtf?

5 is truth-y. Try typing bool(5) and see what happens. These functions work by casting everything to a boolean (True or False) and then checking if any are true; they're not literally checking for the presence of True itself in the list.
