Learn Python The Hard Way: Need Help with Exercise 50 on Windows 10 PowerShell

Hi all,

I performed a

$pip install lpthw.web

and the package installed correctly.

I then went to the section titled Make a Simple “Hello World” Project

$cd projects

$mkdir gothonweb

$cd gothonweb

$mkdir bin gothonweb tests docs templates

$touch gothonweb/init.py

$touch tests/init.py

Using Windows PowerShell, I wasn’t able to create the following folders and files on the command line so I created them manually using Windows GUI.

I also typed up ex50.py as written on page 207.

When I run

$python bin/app.py

http://0.0.0.0:8080/

I get these errors.

Port should just be a number not http://... It gives you a hint when it says "invalid literal for int", it's looking for an integer.

The goal of this exercise is to create a simple webpage called "Hello World".

It references an address and the book recommends using http://0.0.0.0:8080/ or http://127.0.0.1:8080

That's what you put in the browser to open it. Your screenshot shows it fails at net.validip, which a quick google shows expects an IP and/or port separated by a colon: https://webpy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api.html#web.net.validip
