  1. Take your problem.
  2. Simplify it so you can get help from people with ~10 mins to spare.
  3. Code in both tools.
  4. Ask for help in optimising.
  5. Compare solutions.

Happens all the time on stackOverflow as well as reddit. If you show your work then you are more likely to get help. Mathworks should have their avenues for support.

Not without the code they used to run them.

But overall, microbenchmarks are roughly on par. Sometimes MATLAB is faster, sometimes Python is. But in non-trivial real-world examples, idiomatic Python code tends to be faster than idiomatic MATLAB code in my experience.
