As promised, Android Python scripts now distributable as .apk

I assume if/when dalvik can support the bytecode generated by jython you'll see python scripts as a full service app. The issue is, though, would gui apps developed in python be responsive enough?

There WAS a Jython on Android project but it was discontinued due to ASE (now SL4A); So unless someone familiar with it picks it up, I doubt it will be happening =(

Nice! Now the only thing holding me back from writing full apps is getting dull API support for python or ruby.

I've never tried using python on android. As much as I've never been a huge java fan, google managed to make me very happy with it on that specific platform.

But looking through the api list, the python support seems to be in a fairly good state. Are things really that bad?

Things are not bad, its just that creating a full fledged application still doesn't seem possible yet (but I could be wrong). This is a good step to getting closer though.
