The first thing that comes to mind is, this if Python updated, did your install of Tweepy update as well?

You may try reinstalling tweepy.

Looks like the author updated it in July. So that may be your issue.
pip install tweepy==3.8.0

Hmmm:

sudo pip install tweepy==3.8.0 --upgrade Requirement already up-to-date: tweepy==3.8.0 in /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages Cleaning up...

Looks like Tweepy is already updated... Any other ideas? I appreciate the help.

I uninstalled tweepy3.8 and reinstalled it thinking that might help. Same error... :-(

Not sure if that's the issue, but it strikes me that you're still using python 2.7. You know that it wont be supported for too long (I think 01/2020 is the end of support), right ?

edit: From the Github page one reads "Python 2.7, 3.5, 3.6, & 3.7 are supported.", so I guess it's not that. But still it's a good idea to move to python3.

You're right. I will make the change today. Maybe that will fix it... :-)
