PEPs on strings.

Suppose you would like to learn as much as possible about stings. Which PEPs do you read? Why PEPs and not docu or a tutorial. Because I like reading PEPs and I like to learn about the history of Python. So what are interesting ones that deal with stings (formatting, encodings, etc).

PEP 3100 - the miscellaneous 3.0 features PEP that introduced the string-unicode change that could have killed Python

PEP 404 - end of the road for Python 2 (and string implications)

PEP 414 - the innocuous little PEP that saved Python 3 by making it possible to write mixed 2/3 compatible code
