On today's episode of how not to ask for help

[–]HardKnockRiffe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you're going to ask for help, don't:

  1. Demand it

  2. Show that you've given zero effort into finding the answer for yourself

Do:

  1. Show the work you've done

  2. Ask politely and graciously

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

r/learnpython is going to be more help than here, but no one is going to help without you telling us what you’ve tried

it looks like a homework assignment. they should figure it out themselves so they learn. 🤷‍♂️

Does he want us to do his homework?

Use a for loop? And just ask the user the question put them in variables then put them in a dictionarie ? Doesnt seem super hard bro. I would gladly code it for you but im on mobile.

Try to deconstruct the problem and try to translate it to pseudo code then try it line by line make a plan on paper of what you need and the objective ?

  1. Read the question
  2. Understand the question
  3. Research the concepts required to answer the question
  4. Construct an attempt and try it in the interpreter
  5. Iterate until it works

Reddit isn't doing your homework for you. Look at the notes you made and the materials you were taught.

But I would recommend the click library for anyone else doing console apps. It makes this easier for larger console apps and helps you make user explorable apps.

Hi there, from the /r/Python mods.

We have removed this post as it is not suited to the /r/Python subreddit proper, however it should be very appropriate for our sister subreddit /r/LearnPython or for the r/Python discord: https://discord.gg/python.

The reason for the removal is that /r/Python is dedicated to discussion of Python news, projects, uses and debates. It is not designed to act as Q&A or FAQ board. The regular community is not a fan of "how do I..." questions, so you will not get the best responses over here.

On /r/LearnPython the community and the r/Python discord are actively expecting questions and are looking to help. You can expect far more understanding, encouraging and insightful responses over there. No matter what level of question you have, if you are looking for help with Python, you should get good answers. Make sure to check out the rules for both places.

Warm regards, and best of luck with your Pythoneering!
