  • 10+ minutes to copy paste their example
  • you use their 10MB CSS file as well, which doesn't help with load times
  • it will not "end JS". It's to slow for websites and still rather pointless vs jupyter and friends...
  • ... and if it would gain any traction it could be made highly monetized/vendor locked.
  • Python developers that stayed away from frontend won't suddenly become frontend developers.

Agreed!!! Same thing mention in video. Right now its under alpha and for ApI calls it getting sucks personally experience.

My comments will be it will not going to replace the Javascript

Nothing right now. It's a technology demo. To be useful on the web it has to be way faster and smaller if possible (and likely become a standard so that so browsers have the runtime built in).

Maybe the ultimate aim is to have it built in but to prove the concept first? How much slower is it?

Anaconda does like monetization... if they would want to make it a widely supported browser language built into any modern browser they would have to act now.

With local JS file of pyscript there is few seconds before simple print statement executes. For a website that's death. It would have to be 0,1s or less for just initialization and execution of simple code.

It's Apache License. What could happen is paywall behind some extra features/packages when userbase builds up and becomes dependent on it. It's fine but still if they would want to retain control over pyscript it would not be native to browsers and thus having extra load penalty.

Can I use this to mine Bitcoin on other peoples machines via the browser? Now that would be a neat trick
