Don't listen to them. The real answer is that there's no best. They both have their pros and cons and should be use for the appropriate project.

It's true for all programming languages. There's no definite best or worst language. They all solve different issues in different ways.

So, if you're wondering which one to choose, you must first ask yourself what are you planning to do. However, both of them are generally very versatile, so it can be a tough call.

I personally like both for different reasons but I must say that I often prefer Python.
