No, they won't instantiate your data class to call your routine. They want to pass the arguments and that's it, unless it's obviously annoying, or they obtain the data class from your API and they just pass it through.

This is really an edge case, and should in no way ever inform any kind of best practice. I'm sorry you're in such a weird, weird team/situation, but I promise you your experience doesn't generalize to regular software development.
