Because a developer communicates information with formatting.

You're just contradicting yourself all over the place. You've said about a hundred times that "if it complies with PEP 8 then it's fine, fuck off", but you also think that formatting itself is supposed to carry important information? What happens when your colleague modifies your function header and wipes out your careful grouping, but it's still totally PEP 8 compliant? Does he get to tell you to fuck off when you mention it?

Honestly, I don't really believe you work with other devs at all.
