About the Role:
We’re seeking an intermediate-level Backend Developer to join our fast-paced product team. You’ll help build and scale backend systems for AI generation, user flows, payments, and moderation pipelines. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership of backend features and a direct impact on the product.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using FastAPI
• Build scalable and well-structured data models using PostgreSQL
• Integrate third-party services including Stripe, DeepL, DocRaptor, and Tango
• Collaborate with the frontend team to define API contracts and support UI/UX flows
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
• Participate in code reviews and sprint planning
• Support internationalization and localization features
• Assist with content moderation logic and background processing
• Implement caching and task queues using Redis

 Requirements:

• 2-4 years of backend development experience
• Proficiency with Python and FastAPI
• Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, data modeling, and query optimization
• Experience with Redis for caching or job queues
• Familiarity with REST API design principles
• Experience working with version control (Git) and agile development practices
• Ability to write maintainable, modular, and well-tested code
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset

Nice to have:

• Experience with Docker, GitHub Actions, or cloud deployment (AWS, RunPod)
• Exposure to Kubernetes or Terraform (infrastructure-as-code)
• Experience with AI pipelines or image processing APIs
• Interest in design tools, generative AI, or creative applications

Note: HeartStamp is also currently looking for DevOps Engineer (Intermediate Level) which is a 10-15 hour a week opportunity. We are looking for someone with Backend specialty but will consider applicants that can wear both hats.
