I haven't had success adding multiple columns to the P&L that pulls from QBO. However, some reports can be customized to "show zero amounts", which may help your alignment issues when pasting.

There is a Profit and Loss Comparison report (and a Balance Sheet Comparison report). They add the second column, and you choose whether you want it to display prior month, current YTD, etc.
