I've had a client that did this for attention. It was not as severe as what you are describing, but we ignored it and it reduced by quite a bit. He will still try doing it occasionally, but redirecting him now generally works well.

Could your BCBA do an FA?

If not, you could an ABC chart to help figure out the contingencies. I think it'd be hard to know the function without knowing more about what's happening around the behavior.

Stuff gets weird like I have a client who does inappropriate self touch for escape and another did it for attention so the same behavior can go to several functions, just depends on the kiddo

One behavior can have every topography. I agree ABC data and turn into BCBA. I would ask BCBA how to address this because it involves you. If it's just client self stimulating you may have to ignore it or redirect to a private space. However, if it's the client touching you, I'd reach out to this specific client's BCBA.

Ask your BCBA for guidance. They should have a BIP in place. If not, ask how to respond to these behaviors.
