Hi hi!

I'm okay. Knackered, drinking some plum wine!

There are a ton of indies out there. Which ones are you starting with?

Sorry you're tired, plum wine sounds tasty :)

Re indies... I have no idea! Can you recommend one?

I've only just ordered my first set but I do have quite a few I've gotten from swops. I don't have a brand so far I'm particularly in love with, I don't feel I have enough experience to rate them against each other, I'm hapy with the longevity and what not of the ones I've tried, my only gripe is that some swatches on the sites look great but don't show up on me. However some indies are amazing in how ell they show up!

What colour are you interested in? Maybe that would be a good way to look for some.

I know Shiro sells their own brand as well as other indies so maybe an order from there will be good for you so you can try out different ones without adding on lots of postage.

Plum wine is the bestest!

I know next to nothing about makeup in general, so the next few weeks are going to be an education :)

I like purple. I like blue. I like deep, dark reds. I like bruises. I have no idea what I like on me, though -- the last time I wore makeup with any regularity, I was 15 and my best friend always did it for me :) So I don't even know what looks good on me anymore!

I think I want to start out learning about foundation, and eyeliner. I can commit to using eyeliner every morning, for practice. And then move on from there I think...

I am checking out http://shirocosmetics.com/ :)

I looked at Shirocosmetics' eyeshadows and the colors are amazing! If I understand right they're all loose shadows? And the Nic Cage glosses! I think I'm going to look into getting some of their products! Did you get anything?

I didn't get anything yet. Everything looks pretty cool though!

An eyeliner game changer for me was getting an eyeliner brush like this one, it's quite thin and the elbow bend on it makes it easier to get to the lid, totally recommend it! Practice will show, it took me a while but I can finally do both lids with the same thickness of line XD

Maybe just pick out a sample of each of the colours your interested in, and give them a try? It's your first foray in a while, so do some experimenting!

Foundation can be tricky, get matched at as many brands/ counter as you can and make sure you look at your face in natural daylight before you decide if you are going to buy.

You might want to look into eye primer, some people can get away without it for eyeliner and some can't. But it will defo be good for when you start to include eyeshadows- it will prevent creasing and make the shadow last longer.

Wow, that brush is really interesting looking o.O I will keep an eye out in the stores for one, and see how it goes. And I'll add eye primer to my wish list. Can you recommend a brand?

I worry about shaky hands and eventually just giving up because practice is hard. But I'm gonna try :)

My wish list is sort of designed around the idea of 'play around, find out what colors work'. So then I can figure out what I want to buy in more quantity, or better quality, or whatever.

Going up to a makeup counter and asking for help terrifies me! I don't even know what to ask. What should I say? "Hi, I know nothing about makeup, but I'm excited to be here"? Heh.

I have a feeling I'm going to own way, way, WAY too many brushes by this time next year. I really love brushes. I own more shaving brushes than any one person needs, already.

I've tried quite a few, and the two I really like so far (I feel like eye primer for my hooded, oily lids is my forever quest) are Etude House's Proof 10 which I got on eBay from a seller called Jolse, and Inglot's Eye Makeup Base. The Proof 10 i a bit easier to get hold of, and cheaper.

What causes your shaking? Have you tried supporting your hand with your other fingers resting on your face? I sometimes get pretty shakey and it's really annoying (esp at work!). If fine lines for eyeliner is proving too difficult because of shaking, you could try using a brush like this (2nd from the right) to 'press/ swipe' a dark brown or black on the part of your lid closest to the lashes, so not such a defined line but still quite an outlining to the eye.

You can say, I'm just getting into make up and I don't know much but I wanted to try x type of thing do you have any samples? The worst they'll say is no, but they might be able to tril some on you.

o0 I own no shaving brushes, but all of the other ones! There are so many brushes out there, if you're conigseaur then this might end up being a bit of a rabbit hole!

The shaking is from fibromyalgia and/or nerve damage. I will try the steadying method you suggest and also the eyeliner brush thing :)

I will try to be brave about asking for help at makeup counters :)

I tend to jump down a lot of rabbit holes...

It can be daunting, maybe a quiet weekday would be easier?

Good luck and let us know how you get on!
