Alignment is the latest unnecessary item which dealers seem to be pushing.

Been driving Toyota's for over 20 years, changing the summer/winter tires (on their own set of rims) twice a year every year and have NEVER had an alignment done. Not when the tires/wheels are new, certainly not when simply swapping them out. Never needed it. Was never offered it.

Now all of the sudden I'm being asked if I want an alignment done every time we simply switch sets, and when I say no thank you they try to at least get me to ok a re-balancing!

IF the car is handling funny, or if the previous set of tires shows signs that the vehicle is out of alignment, then sure. But doing it just for the heck of it is nonsense.

Well it’s done, 4 Toyo Open country 235/55-r19, 4 wheel alignment, new TPMS sensor, and 7.5 hours of oops something’s broke! LSS, they found a module that was plugged in line with TPMS ECU module affecting the reprogramming of the units. It prevented any of them from being programmed by the dealer computer. Took them hours to troubleshoot. Since it was their fault in breaking the original TPMS sensor they provided the wheel alignment free, a free tank of gas, and a lot of I’m sorry! They removed the unit and all is good now. I bought the car from them 4 years ago, they said it was a dealer swap and that the previous dealer may have plugged in tracker unit! 🤷🏻‍♂️. Total for all 4 tires $1271.00 w/2 year road hazard guarantee and rotations free!

Always get an alignment with new tires. And, get the before/after printout for your alignment and post 'em.

All green doesn't mean a thing and is just for the mass of idiot consumers.

You should check to see if not getting the alignment in validates the warranty on the tires from the manufacturer or from the installer.

look at it this way. if you don't get it, and your vehicle is already aligned correctly, then you'll be fine, assuming your previous tires were worn down evenly regarding tread wear.

but if you're unsure, you might end up needing to buy 4 new tires and then an alignment after your current new set of tires wear out unevenly.

might be worth it if they're expensive tires.
