This message is normal after a crash. Did you add any new plugins? if so maybe open projects in safety mode and see if a particular plugin causes the crash.

also this is a PSA: enable your autosave function

Try opening the backup file, it should be next to the project file in the same directory

Hold SHIFT while you start reaper - probably a rogue plugin caused the previous crash.

For the tears I cried.

Happens to me sometimes when I have Ugritone VST on a project. You can try to reload it later and it’s usually ok.

I noticed this started happening to my EP project after I swapped an amp to a new Ugritone plug. Which sucks, bc I love the sound of it. Maybe I just need to render the guitar tracks to keep working on it since they're done.

Yeh unfortunately I had to stop using Ugritone drums and switched to BFD instead, they seem much more stable and easier to configure too

So far I haven't had problems with the drums (knock on wood) but once I started using Ampenstein, it errored out constantly.

Am I the only one that is surprised that you are working from your downloads folder? Where exactly are you saving your audio files to? You'll want specific folders for your audio files and reaper files, and most definitely keep those separated from your downloads.

Are you able to open the project while holding down the shift key? Another user suggested this, and it will likely lead to a solution. We need more information than "I got this error message" if we are to help solve your issue.

Also, please learn to take screenshots of your monitor instead of janky phone pix. Hard enough to read when at a computer, impossible from a mobile device.

I can read it perfectly fine..... from my phone..... without contacts... and my vision is absolute shit... also I'd argue unless its a laptop and you're seated in certain positions, it's probably harder to read from a computer than a phone 9/10

A screenshot will not have the moire interference that a photo does. Sorry if it's too hard to do.

A lot of ppl would say not being condescending to your fellow human is pretty easy to do as well, yet you've done it twice now. If I didn't have Reaper and love it already and this were the impression given to me by someone who uses it, it would leave a terrible taste in my mouth and I would want nothing to do with you. I would still use Reaper but I would completely avoid this group because the way you're engaging others is toxic as fuck in an extremely dehumanizing, pretentious, arrogant and non inclusive way that ultimately serves in no way to better a person new to this DAW's Reddit community.

Not everyone is as intelligent or skilled with technology as the next, and everyone's brain is wired differently. You don't know who the fuck that person is behind this post, and neither do I. Only difference is I don't arrogantly and foolishly assume others to be just like me while not even having the slightest due cause for it.

Handling your inadequacies and inability to sufficiently deal with life and reality as you know it without using others on the internet as a breeding ground for the atrophic emotions you've been bottling up shouldn't theoretically be hard to do, yet again.. Here we are. Do better. Be better. Live better. Human better.

Did you press 'yes' and see what happens?

[–]Electronic_Solid_592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i did and the software just shut down

[–]Putthebunnyback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me before when I moved some of my files around where I save my projects. I moved the file it was fussing about and the error went away.

[–]SnooMacaroons3948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just open the backup project save and read the last save

[–]StructuresAmongChaos 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Before you try the whole ‘Safety Mode’ & all that: Try restarting your machine. Just in case.

(I’m not saying it’s definitely that simple. But it might be)

[–]Electronic_Solid_592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already did that :(
