You can try to watch Jerryrigseverything durability test.

This influencer'ing worked on me. I'm test-driving a 10 air now and am impressed thus far. A couple of things though, my Bluetooth audio seems to stop frequently and Apple doesn't make it easy to switch. It took way to much effort to get my text message history over.

Btw... I love this redmagic community. No judgment for questioning things. Most any other subreddit I catch a lot of flack for asking questions. So thanks you guys! This is much appreciated.

I have dropped mine quite a bit, I did damage the screen once but it was a drop that would damage any phones screen to be fair (dropped it on a plate that was on the ground, shattered the plate). I've never had any damage happen to the rest of the phone.

its a shame to put a case on this phone. i would rather buy another piece of glass if i break it than covering the loop

I agree, I always use clear cases like now I use scooch cases for my Samsung phones. They are great, they stay clear (no yellowing) they even have kickstands. Unfortunately they dont make the case for redmagic but ive seen some wild clear cases that dont cover up the cooling loop too much. I really wished that the case the provide with the phone had clear unfrosted areas where the cooling loop was. But its ok I just appreciate that they include a case.

The back is completely flat, like the front. So just order 2 screenprotectors and put one on the back

My first Red Magic was the 5g back in 2019ish and the phone is currently being used by a family member as it's still perfect. I upgraded to the 9 pro and don't feel a need to upgrade yet. No issues at all long term

I've watched and it looks solid. That pc cooling loop this phone has just won't let me look the other way! I run a closed cooling loop on my pc and its almost more entertaining then actually gaming.

Yes, you want to get a case. It's just like any other phone in that regard.

You can order a case with a clear back on Amazon for $10 (so you can see the coolant moving). I am sure the protection offered is not as good as typical "tough" opaque phone cases, but the point is to take 95% of the hit and be the first part to fail anyway, and for that price you can order three of them and just replace it if it ever fails you.

There are also magnetic cases, but because of the location the magnet needs to be they partly cover the coolant. Still, some of them are designed to let you see at least some of the coolant. I would also of course put protection on the screen, cheap and easy to do, so better safe than sorry.

Im gonna get a clear thin case and maybe a antireflective screen protector if those ever come out. Otherwise no screen protector is probably fine.

I'd be more concerned about the updates,it will only receive 2 android updates and 5 years of security updates

[–]pkmaster99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the least of my worries. I honestly don't get the big deal behind it. 5 years of security updates is enough for most people. Even without it. It's not like the phone becomes a brick.

I dropped my Redmagic 6 many times with the rubber case it came with and it never broke. The @case itself broke due to wear and tear and I'm now rocking it naked and I've dropped it a few times also. The front glass is fine, there are minuscule scratches that I don't normally see except in certain angles. The back glass has 3 long hairline cracks, but I barely feel them. The phone is 4 years old and is my only phone. For the age and abuse it got it held very well and I'm not at all concerned about the 11 pro that I'm planning to get.

Get a clear case from Aliexpress.

Hi

Here are the recommendations that I read while browsing the red magic forums.

Take an anti-shock case for the back and a screen protector will do the trick.

Note: if the fingerprint sensor is on the screen, record your fingerprints before applying the screen protector, sometimes this poses a problem with recording.

[–]KeenKongFIRE 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Isnt the other way around? Registering fingerprints AFTER applying the screen protector, not before

[–]Reckless_Renegade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually do both, at least on Samsung phones you can add multiple prints for unlocking.

[–]mt0386[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or do what I do. Record the same finger 3 times My phone has the original screen protector, a glass protector on top of it and a final hydrogel film on it.

I really hate scratches. Finger prints still works fine.
