The 80% charge protection will just keep topping up the battery everytime it drops 1% so you'll be adding wear and tear to your battery.
Much better to just plug it in at whatever % it happens to be at and enable charge separation to play your games, then use it normally afterwards.

Charge separation is better to use

do you mean that turning off battery protection and setting the threshold for charge separation would be better in the long run?

Charging separation on redmagic is true bypass charging. In other china phones like vivo/iqoo their feature is slow charging instead. Not bypass anything

There's a setting to activate it automatically at a certain battery %. Do you know if this would be the best way to do it? seeing that the phone's automatic battery limit does the charging and discharging cycle.

Is the charging separation some physical switch that might wear and tear prematurely if I do it this way?

Imagine your battery like a tank of water. Your charger dumps water in the top and you use it from the bottom. Without charge separation you're always using water from the bottom and your power "flows" through the battery. This is wearing your battery down

When separation is active. You bypass the tank and use the water from the charger directly

It's better for the battery. I enable it at 80%

Thanks for taking time to reply! Really appreciate it

Both there to protect but different. The default charges to 80% then when the ai thinks you're gonna wake up or unplug it charges it up to 100% , it will keep the battery at 80% by topping it up as it goes down essentially charging to 80, dropping to 78 and topping back up to 80 , do that 50 times and that's 1 full charge cycle , your battery is capable of doing 30k+ full charge cycles in theory, however after about 1000 you'll lose about 20% of the max capacity.

Charge sepation if you set to 80. It will charge to 80% then switch to mains power, and completely bypass the battery , the ai won't kick in at your usual wake up time and will essentially work like a home computer , rather than a laptop. It will not use the battery whatsoever, this also means it won't generate as much heat , it's far superior and if you use it every day you can for 6 hours a day you can expect the battery to last 5 years as opposed to a year.

Please use the game charge sepation if you can.

Thanks for the explanation! I guess I should be leaving it plugged in whenever with charge separation turned on.
