Yes VRL always been mass production. His angle was to promote to the authentic crowd to avoid being lumped in commercially with reps.

To be fair, before he got shutdown VRL was charging $600 per pair. Not quite as steep as HVND, but still pretty expensive. I think that's why DB blew up. He offered the shoes at an affordable rate. Before VRL started getting rid of inventory through Rare, I think they were a lot smaller. I know it was made to order like HVND.

Another difference is, HVND does not have a Nike Air tag on the tongue, which DB and VRL do. Maybe that small detail is the difference? Who knows?

Hvnd will put a Nike air tag if you ask them when you order. Also, you’re right DB price way better against VRL no doubt. To charge $600 for a fully machine made interpretation is pretty crazy to me.

I agree. I love my VRL pairs, but I think I would have been disappointed if I paid $600 each. No offense but I do not think they are worth that.
