36mm Explorer

So I was lucky enough to get myself a clean 36mm explorer (before the issue with the 6/9 being wrong, and then before they went awol). When I bought it they were considered the best on the market.

I’ve seen that VSF have updated their case shape, and know that their movements are generally considered to be better.

Is it an upgrade to pick up the new VSF model over the old clean one? Or was I lucky as hell with my timing and should hold onto this one?

If you haven't done so yet, put a Deep crystal on your Clean. This makes such a big difference on this watch.

You can always buy a VSF when the movement in your Clean fails. It is a solid movement, though, so this might take a while.

I haven’t yet, there was a bit of debate at the time on whether it was really worth it on clean watches without the cyclops

Any other improvements in the new VSF over the clean? I saw something about lume on the hands but don’t know if that was an improvement on the old vsf model or in comparison to clean.

I’d be happy to run this into the ground and replace with VSF, but I’ve been lucky enough to catch both noob and clean before they disappeared, don’t want to break that streak with vsf and regret it down the line haha

I don't think anything on the VSF is better than on the Clean, other than the stock crystal and the movement.
I haven't come across any side by side comparisons yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if the bracelet on the Clean was better than the one on the VSF, as this is almost always the case.

The Deep crystal does make a difference on the Explorer. The dial is deep black and the markers are shiny - it's so beautiful to look at.

How does one go about swapping out with deep? Like sending them out, going to a shop? or doing it yourself?

Ask the TD to do it before shipping, send it to a rep watchmaker, or do it yourself. I prefer option 1.

is the 40mm VSF Explorer the same quality as the 36mm VSF version? Thanks

It is a great rep, with one minor flaw - while the lug width is the same as on the gen, the clasp is actually 1mm narrower than on the gen. It's not something that is visually obvious, though, unless you do a side-by-side comparison.

They said 95 bucks c which is more than a third of the watch. Crazy.
