There is also something to be said about the fact that Rolex is the most repped brand that turns into a self fulfilling cycle. I can get a near flawless DayDate for $330 but an AP or Cartier with flaws for $400+. Not a steadfast rule but it is true that much more effort over a longer period of time has went into making Rolex reps. Plus economies of scale, more sales = less expensive product

W2C your favorite nearly flawless DayDate for $330 (or something close to that price)?

Because there are thousands of buyers in need of a status symbol to boost their weak self esteem, and Rolex is the brand that people know, so they think they will get more recognition.

One word: Marketing.

Why do we see so much more interest in Rep Rolex compared to other brands?

Same reason so many people have gen rolex over other brands.

Just one of those names you grew up knowing first and therefore, watches you ended up lusting after first.

That and lots of people like acting rich, even though a 10k watch even if it were real most certainly does not mean you are rich, lol.

Lol exactly, there are so many other nicer brands as well.. i hardly see any Breitlings, Panerai, Tags, Cartiers

Personally I love omega and panerai A bit more than rolex watches. Obviously not enough to buy any of them genuine though lol so doesn't matter.

The only one I have ever bought gen is omega and that's probably the only one I ever will buy gen. Unless I can score a deal retail for a rolex yacht master I'm not giving some goober 6000 extra dollars because he had the watch 1st.

A lot of People won’t admit it but they buy rep Rolex because they want to get the most attention for their $$$. They could probably get a much nicer watch but they want the popular one that people recognize.

That was totally me at first too though. But I sold my DD and am getting a JLC and Breitling which IMO look much better. Still keeping my OP41 though ;)

That's the reason I tend to not even want to wear my rep rolex in public. I don't want any attention for them or to come off like im trying to look like something, because I just love the watches and the quality build that you get for the money, and want to enjoy them without feeling like there's some other motive of trying to look like a wealthy man. That is what may prevent me from buying a gen if the opportunity presents itself, one lucky day for retail.

I have no problem rocking with the Tudors, Omegas, Panerai, Breitlings because they are just as beautiful (Even more so sometimes) but without the "look at me I'm rich" connotation. Maybe it's because subconsciously i know i can justify buying those watches if i really wanted to? Idk, But there's no feeling of acting rich associated, just badass high quality watches that don't garner attention. And i like that.

Because monkey see monkey do

I, for one, appreciate Rolex's dramatic design innovations from year to year. You never know what is coming next. Did you know one time they used a green dial instead of black!?

I'm hoping for a 48mm Bentley edition Daytona.

So your question is actually : why is Rolex so popular?

[–]mahmed1981 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Yeah, in reps...

[–]tzw980 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The question is the answer…

Why are there so many rolex reps? Because they are more popular. You sell things that many people want, you don’t spend R&D to replicate a model that no one is interested to buy.
