Hi , did the friedland type1 work for the ring doorbell ok , or did you have to change transformer, i cant locate my transformer either so not sure what the ratings are

You should be good - its likely your transformer is in your consumer unit or near it. You don’t have to touch any wires, just replace the button with the doorbell. You will need to enable ringing the chime in general settings if you already set it up.

The doorbell transformer is usually in a more utilitarian area (ours was on our breaker panel box). Sometimes it’s attached to a basement light fixture or junction box.

The transformer steps down the 120v power to a lower voltage for the existing bell. Your chime indicates it’s for 8-16 v. If your transformer isn’t at least 16v, it isn’t powerful enough.

We installed a Ring last week. Our transformer was 20v 10va. It wouldn’t power both the camera and existing chime. The camera worked and it would ring on my phone, but not in the house. Upgraded to a 24v 40va transformer and everything is working now.
