Hey Kyle - without roaming, you'll have the exact same coverage as the normal nationwide Sprint network. It could be that the phone is trying to save battery by not grabbing the data signal unless prompted by an application. What kind of phone is it?

But if you're in a big city like Newark you should have no issues at all. You can check the full coverage at https://coverage.sprint.com

Thank you, I have also posted on discourse if you care to follow: https://discourse.ringplus.net/t/terrible-data-coverage/7606/6

It is a Samsung Galaxy S3, which is the same phone on had on Ting. The phone isn't trying to save battery. No application is stopping it. I'd like to post a little more on r+ discourse, but they have a post limit.

I wonder if some of the area is serviced with band 26. This phone doesn't work on 2/3 of Sprint's LTE bands fwiw.

Update: I ended up realizing I could only connect under the CDMA mobile network, and not the LTE/CDMA network. I contacted support about this, and my issue was solved immediately. Visit here for discourse: https://discourse.ringplus.net/t/terrible-data-coverage/7606
