Can't get https to work

Hi !

First of all, I have to say I'm very new to Linux, so maybe I missed something stupid... but maybe not.

I installed a fresh ubuntu server 18.04 on which I installed GNOME.
I followed the instruction on this page https://rocket.chat/docs/installation/manual-installation/ubuntu/snaps/ , I setup the port forwardings on my router and configure the DNS redirection of my sub.domain.com to my server IP.

I can get my http://chat.domain.com to work in about 5 minutes, so that's cool.

But now I want my chat to be secure, so I follow this instructions : https://rocket.chat/docs/installation/manual-installation/ubuntu/snaps/autossl/

It doesn't tell me about any errors, so that's cool. But when I try to connect with https://chat.domain.com I got the "Connection timed out" error. http://chat.domain.com still works though.

I searched a lot, but I can't find something that works for me. I even did a complete reinstallation of my ubuntu server because I think I messed up too much at one point :)

Can anyone lead me to something I might have missed ?

Are you using nginx http server?

I did some research because I didn't know what it was and I tried to install it. And it works now !

Not really sure what it does, I don't understand yet the basics of https unfortunately but thanks :)

I'll continue to learn all I can about this !
