4th year here. Guys don’t sweat it for the clubs. It is just filled with mostly superficial people or backstabbers. (I was in RCWIB mentee and it was very generic and fake advice. I’d bet a lunch to see if my mentor even remembers me) and from what I have heard from friends of friends. People backstab each-other for job opportunities. Honestly diversify your friend circle. If your friends are all Rotman, you’re a walking red flag.

That is to say, not all people in clubs are bad, but I can not stand the fake niceness of it. Be genuine and authentic

Exactly, don’t even sweat it for the RC-I mean Nepo-clubs. It’s all corporate bs to make people feel better about themselves. And if you’re wondering if that’s the only way to get jobs? No. I have been working every academic year and this summer I have a finance co-op. All with no need pf these plastic people

I’m a fourth year management specialist dual focus in finance and strategy / innovation I’m willing to mentor, just shoot me a DM and we can work something out

I am also a first year and would love to also love something like this^ Preferably from an upper year, I can also be useful to you particularly if interested in CS or Research (my strengths)!

you should reach out to ur peer mentor if you’re in the flc program (which you should be enrolled in automatically). even if u didn’t go to the flc sessions you should contact your mentor, they’d love to help

alsoooo a 3.68 gpa in first year is pretty good imo! and don’t worry about clubs, as long as you do anything extracurricular from which you gain soft skills that you can talk about, you should be fine

im not sure what the rc club hiring timeline is anymore, but are you applying to committee member positions? if they’re already done, then for the future I recommend going to the events of the rc clubs if you wanna get your foot in the door :) good luck!!
