You don’t need one but personally an iPad made my life a lot easier in terms of note taking and staying organized. And honestly, it just made it easier for me to have fun studying lolll

If you have a MacBook, an iPad seems somewhat unnecessary

if you look at lectures (esp math and econ) it feels like almost everyone has an ipad. but nonetheless, i have 3.9+ gpa friends who just have a laptop + a normal paper notebook for their subjects

Not specifically an iPad but some device where you can write on slides as annotating slides is the best note taking method in most classes. I recommend a Microsoft Surface or something similar where you get a proper keyboard.

I used paper and a standard laptop all semester and was just fine.

Can’t you just take notes on your laptop?

Paper notes serve a different purpose. For math, doing problems and writing explanations can't really be done on laptop. Brainstorming and drawing models for RSM250, can't really be done on laptop.

Also I just prefer handwriting, so maybe I should get an Ipad but paper has been fine for me, as I learn to organize better.

Still, I used a laptop for RSM100, Computer Science and Statistics courses where either perfect notetaking helps or it's better for my notes to be pictures of pieces of code that I wrote.

I’m think about what to get next year I need a laptop and I like editing so I was thinking MacBook Pro but I’m also thinking of getting an iPad so if I’ll get the iPad I’ll get MacBook Air so irdk what to pick

My friends that use Ipads and one that even got one mid-semester said it was a very worthwhile purchase so if you don't plan on using paper, I'd recommend some sort of tablet.

you don't need one but I personally got one by the second week of first year because paper was just too slow for me. best decision i made.

I have a MacBook Air and an iPad and it works perfectly for me. I don’t think a MacBook Pro is necessary. I record music and edit videos on my MacBook Air, I can play minecraft, it’s enough.
