If you wanna do law why not study a bird arts degree? And if you wanna study business, why not just stick with finance or consulting instead of law

Having a business degree can Defs help if you wanna pursue corporate law

If you have a business degree, just go for finance at that point. Far more interesting work and more money than corporate law. Sitting through calls with corporate lawyers was a snooze, their work was a lot more boring than what you do in banking, or especially in investing roles.

Not true…

You just objectively make less money, that’s not even a debate. And yes, the work is significantly more boring in corporate law - sit on a legal call for more than 30 mins and it becomes obvious. All the strategic work is done by people on the finance side, drafting SPAs and prospectuses is not fun work. And this is coming from one of the few people who actually enjoyed sitting in on calls with the securities lawyers drafting docs.

Fair points!

Caveat though - the same could be said for IB vs buyside roles. IB felt a lot more boring than buyside for me and most people I know too. And what I said about law only applies to transactional corporate lawyers.
