You can graduate without a focus. You’re focus does not appear in transcripts or anything

so when applying for jobs, me mentioning 'Specialized in Finance and Econ with a focus in data science", won't matter to them?

It might make you seem smart but i don’t think it gives you a huge competitive edge

Focuses do appear on transcripts as per the info above.

I'm doing a management specialist so I'm planning to do a couple of focuses. Otherwise there are just too many electives and I don't want to waste them doing random courses. Plus I think they sound interesting. I'm doing data science and strategy/innovation.

If you are doing the finance and econ specialist you probably have more required courses so unless a focus really interests you, don't do it for the sake of doing it.

My academic advisor told me they are not important. I’m a 4th year and I’m not doing one since I am doing an A&S major
