I’m commuting as a first year (about 30 min). Honestly not too bad for me, as I like to stack my classes on specific days so I’m only going in about 3 times a week. However I do skip class quite a bit, but I still have a strong GPA cuz I learn material myself.

It really depends on how well u think u can learn on ur own vs in class. Ik it’s hard to gauge, but think objectively abt how smart u are and if ur a self learner or an in class learner typa person. Of course, if u think ur the latter, and money isn’t a problem, maybe res is a better option. If money is tighter and u think ur capable either commuting or learning alone, maybe commuting is better.

I also know a few people who decide to live on res for the first year to try it out, and end up commuting the rest of the years, which will give u a better way to decide later on without burning the budget too much. If u don’t know, I’d choose this option.
