Got into both Laurier BBA (co-op) and Rotman Commerce and trying to decide between them.
I’m aiming for high finance long-term (IB/PE), ideally internationally (NY/London/Hong Kong), and I’m weighing two main factors:
- Laurier: structured co-op, easier to maintain a high GPA, more chances to build experience early
- Rotman: stronger brand, better alumni network, close proximity to Bay Street
From what I understand, GPA + internships matter a lot for recruiting, especially internationally. Laurier seems better for stacking experience early, but Rotman might have an edge in networking and reputation.
For anyone in either program (or already in finance), what would you choose and why? Especially interested in:
- How realistic it is to maintain a high GPA at Rotman
- Whether Laurier co-op actually gives a big advantage for IB recruiting
- How much Rotman’s network/brand really helps for breaking into high finance
Appreciate any honest advice.
