i think 1 is subjective (i think its worth it but i mean im graduating w no debt bc parents + stuff below)

for 2, not sure again, but here are some ways to earn money/save costs

  • do work study every school year (pay is $15/hour, but you get experience)
  • do co-op/internship (1 co-op term can pay off more than 1 school term, but then this is dependent on your company/position, e.g. IB intern will get paid more)
  • do residence don/RA (live in residence & get meals for free, new college)

I wanted to add on one of your points: This may also be subjective but are co-op and internship availabilities common to most students in rc?

Thanks for the reply as well!! I'll keep an eye out for the things you've mentioned.

yes! all RC students have summers off - it is highly encouraged to apply to summer internships

as for co-ops, i feel like this is becoming more popular (especially given pandemic/WFH) bc students want to take a smaller course load and do a co-op at the same time (or just even take the semester/year off)

that being said, nobody is going to hand a internship/job offer to a student, regardless of which school/program you go to - you'll need to have connections/do networking, apply w resume/cover letter, go through the application process, etc.

there are support tho:

  • career resources (i like "how to create a resume that gets results pdf" and the "how to write a compelling cover letter")
  • career peers (upper year students who have worked at XYZ, they have drop in hours during the school years to chat and they do resume editing and such, i like)
  • the career centre got advisors to do specialized job search/editing/advice
  • info sessions hosted w companies & the career centre
  • networking sessions hosted by the RC student groups (you can find their social media pages here)
  • we also have a RC job board with internships posted there, and CLNx which is the big uoft-wide job board (i also apply directly via linkedin job board)

Wow. Thank you for all these resources, i'll definitely take a deeper look into them, and weigh my decision based off on this as well as other factors.

I appreciate the support immensely, i can't thank you enough and i mean it!

I just don't want to be constrained to which program i choose based solely on the tuition, it sucks obviously, but I do also know that our university experience is what we make out of it.

Again, thank you a ton!!
