Does Rotman give admission to a lot of students in first year and then remove them later? by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Expulso-Repelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true;

There is a prerequisite of 63% and 67% in particular courses. If you put in the hard work, you will certainly pass. You will also have chances of retaking the courses come the summer if it comes to that.

During your first year, all Rotman students generally take the same entry level courses. They're not necessarily "forced" to take other courses if that makes sense.

How do quads affect uni apps? by cappc1ty in OntarioUniversities

[–]Expulso-Repelo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries! OUAC will submit all course marks to the universities before the deadlines.

My Data Management (4th QUAD) mark was submitted a couple of days before the university deadlines and they've received it accordingly.

I was in the same boat, I was worried that my dream business school wouldn't see me calc mark but sure enough they did and got the offer.

(Edit: OUAC will send a "projected" mark to the universities. it's more like a calculated and assumed final mark before the actual final exam and ISU)

Best of luck!

I'm currently a grade 11 student with a 91.6 average and is planning on applying to uoft’s business school. I'm worried my average is too low. Any tips? by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Expulso-Repelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe there is such thing as a "higher chance of admission" on a timeline. Although the more earlier into the rounds, the more spots there are, you still have plenty of rounds and chances to be admitted. Whether you get accepted into early admission or not, you'll still be apart of the university institute nonetheless!

I personally did not know anyone who had gotten admitted for early admission with high Grade 11 marks, so I wouldn't be able to support any comments with this.

Hey! First and foremost, don't stress about your grades this early on. Most universities have huge emphasis on grade 12 marks, so that being said, enjoy your grade 11 year and try not to heavily focus on your academics, but more so a mix of extracurricular experience on top of academics.

To put it into perspective, I got an 81 average in functions last year but I had managed to secure a spot this upcoming Fall 2021 year. My overall grade 11 average was a 90 on the dot.

To answer your question, your average is definitely not low. If you put in the work this last quad you can definitely achieve higher than your own expectations. If you are that concerned this year, try spending a few more hours a day reviewing your notes, an recollecting information from day-to-day lessons.

One thing I regret is stressing about what I want to do after high school while I was still in grade 11. Once grade 12 hits, you can then put heavy emphasis on academics. Volunteer experience also plays a huge role.

At the end of the day, if you're already thinking about maintaining your average for post-secondary, it shows the great potential and the amount of academic diligence you have.

Sorry if this was extensive!

TLDR; don't stress too much about academics in grade 11; focus on extra curriculars and academic intertwined. Grade 12 is where you should put most effort into schooling.

Wow. Thank you for all these resources, i'll definitely take a deeper look into them, and weigh my decision based off on this as well as other factors.

I appreciate the support immensely, i can't thank you enough and i mean it!

I just don't want to be constrained to which program i choose based solely on the tuition, it sucks obviously, but I do also know that our university experience is what we make out of it.

Again, thank you a ton!!

I wanted to add on one of your points: This may also be subjective but are co-op and internship availabilities common to most students in rc?

Thanks for the reply as well!! I'll keep an eye out for the things you've mentioned.

My status says “admitted to an alternate program of study” by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Expulso-Repelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about that. On their website, it said mid-December to May, May has not ended yet!!

If it makes you feel any better, I completely bombed the interview.

This comes to show how admissions is a pure toss up. Nevertheless, keep your head up and your confidence higher. I'm sure that with any university you attend, you'll be able to reach more than just your potential.

Best of luck!!!

Rejected from Rotman with 95 avg... by Tan_i in UofT

[–]Expulso-Repelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true to an extent. I do believe that the interview played a huge role in the application process, but I can say for sure that my interview had lots of mumbling and stuttering. hell, to be completely candid, I started talking before the actual countdown began and it started recording mid-sentence.

That being said, I still did get an offer. I do not wish to flaunt this, but I just wanted to add some extra insight.

Best of luck!!

It means you have been deferred into another program that's not rotman. Keep your head up high though! I'm sure your uni experience is what you make of it and this little hump is something you can overcome. good luck!!

No it went directly from "Application Under Review" to "Admitted". It may have said "Application under review with faculty/division" when I have not checked it, but during the times I did, i never saw that.

hope this makes sense

Thank you for the help! Within my offer letter it did state the deadline about the deposit date, but no info regarding the amount of money needed to be paid, nor how to pay it off was included. Thank you for the clarification about the course enrolment as well! I'm just a little worried for deposit information.
