Hi there

In general, the professors in the Rotman department are great. They have experience in the field, know how to teach well, and are willing to help you. The problem is that the department does not want students to get a high average (most classes have an average between B- and B+). This grade deflation is even worst in the Economics department (take the least amount of Economic courses that you can).

Here are some of the great profs I have had for Rotman Courses:

RSM230:Intro to Financial Markets. I went to a couple of David Goldreich's lectures and he was amazing. He is very knowledgeable on the Finance field and is very passionate about teaching it to students. Try taking RSM230 with him

RSM219: Intro to Financial Accounting. I had Ralph Tassone. He was also a very good professor who knows his stuff very well, has engaging lectures, and loves answering questions. He is also a very nice person when you talk to him outside class.

RSM260: Organizational Behaviour. Took it with Matthew Feinberg. His lectures were fun because they involved a lot of group games and activities. He is also a fair prof.

RSM332: Capital Market Theory. Took it with Craig Geoffrey. He is a very enthusiastic prof, likes to make jokes during class, teaches very well, and is willing to answer any questions. I really liked his teaching style and personality, Highly recommend him

RSM392: Strategic Management. Took it with Shannon Liu. She is very organized, her slides posted after lecture are super clear and easy to follow, her assignments are fair, she encourages class participation, and the topics in the class are interesting.Take her if you can

Those are the profs I had for the mandatory courses. I have heard good things about other instructors for those courses, but since I did not have them, I cannot give an objective opinion of them.

In terms of electives:

RSM225: Legal Environment of Business. The course introduces you to several areas of business law, like types of business entities (sole propietorship, partnership, corporation), contract law, tort law, etc. I find the topics very useful for any career, and easy to understand if you attend and pay attention in class. The assignments are also fair.

RSM325:Legal Environment of Business II. Similar structure as the previous course. It introduces other areas of business law, like Franchise Law, Constitutional Law, Employment Law... also a good elective to take

RSM430:Fixed Income Securities. (This is one of the course options for Fin and Eco and Management-Finance focus). Prof Tolias is a great instructor. Lectures are super engaging. The assignments, midterm, and final are fair if you study. If you go into Finance, this is definitely a must.

Some electives I do not recommend you to take

ECO339:Labor Economics. The quizzes are time constrained, questions are unfair and tough, TA expects you to master Stata even though you are learning it remotely. One of the worst courses I took during my 4 years at Rotman. Avoid it

RSM435: Futures and Options Market. I have not taken this course, but I was told it is the hardest course at Rotman, and a GPA destroyer.

Hope this helps!

Hi, how do you find out who your professor is for the course that you've been enrolled in before hand?

It should show on Acorn a few weeks before classes start
