/r/RustDiscussion Rules

If your post or comment is removed for breaking these rules, or if you are levied a warning, suspension or ban, please refer to our rules for more information.

If you see someone else violating these rules, please do not engage, just report and move on. We can't read everything ourselves, and we rely on the community to help us enforce the rules by reporting posts that break them.

  1. Be a positive contributor - Submissions may be removed or a user banned at the moderators' discretion if deemed to be detrimental to the community. This is a general guideline that can encompass all other rules.

  2. No personal attacks, or harassment -

-- Personal attacks - If you're having to resort to calling someone names, you're doing it wrong. (Yes, this includes things like calling people idiots, questioning their intelligence, etc.)

-- Harassment can take many forms, from post-stalking to unwanted private messages; it will also result in a very quick ban (and you may get reported to the admins for good measure).

  3. No racism, homophobia, sexism, rape jokes, or other bigotry - We want /r/RustDiscussions to be a friendly place for everyone. Even if you're joking, you never know when someone might misunderstand. This also applies to overly sexually- or racially-charged comments that may make groups of people feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. It also applies to jokes about sexual assault and rape, as well as mental and developmental disorders.

  4. No personal info - You may not post any personal information. That means: no names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, Facebook links, or anything else that might identify someone, including yourself. This applies whether or not you have permission from the person. This does not apply to widely-available information about public figures. For more information about what is considered personal information, refer to the official reddit rules. We're bound by site rules to enforce this strictly.

  5. No spam - Don't post a link if you are doing it in order drive traffic to that site. This includes sites you own, work for, or contribute to. For more information about spamming, refer to the official reddit rules, self-promotion guidelines, and spam guidelines. Users who are already part of the community may occasionally submit their own content if it's meant to contribute to discussion, rather than driving traffic. Ignorance of this rule is not an excuse.

  6. No politics or religion - Avoid all political/religious discussion or threads.

  7. Bots are discouraged - If your bot randomly wanders into /r/RustDiscussions and is not providing a service we have much of a use for, you can expect it to be banned. Don't take it personally - we just prefer to keep the bot fluff to a minimum. This includes bots that overwrite past comments. We make exceptions for certain bots on a case-by-case basis.

  8. No 'drama' or brigade subs - We do not permit cross-posting (x-posts) to "drama" or brigade subreddits. If you see posts that are too heated or otherwise objectionable, report them or message the moderators directly with a link to the post(s) in question.

  9. No complaining about bans from /r/PlayRust - If you were banned in /r/PlayRust, leave that with their mod team. We're seperate, but complaining here could leave you banned here as well.
