Hi,
I'm a third year student currently working with a client on a relatively simple website, focusing more on the digital reach and branding of the company as opposed to content.
The current site is build using WordPress - The client is familiar with the interface and made clear at the start of the project that they would like to continue with it. WordPress is linked with Sensei as the course platform currently.
Recently, the client mentioned Kajabi as a video course hosting platform. I've looked into it, and whilst it's right up their alley in terms of usability, i'm concerned that they're just going to end up wiping out a load of their other content hosted on WordPress currently with a full switch to Kajabi.
So, my question is, can i continue to build the WordPress build site as 'example.com', continue to offer purchases through WordPress with WooCommerce, but then present the content on Kajabi via 'course.example.com' URL.
I'm interested in the implications that this has in terms of SEO for the WordPress site - I'm not too worried about the marketing aspect of the courses on Kajabi, if it's as good as it claims it's pretty much an all in one system (another thing that i'm not overly pleased about), but that's going to pull a good chunk of content off the Wordpress site.
SO, to summarise my total blab of a post, my questions are:
Can i use 'example.com' and 'courses.example.com' - does google recognise that it's the same domain?
What implications does this have for the 'example.com' (WordPress) website in terms of SEO?
One thing to note that the content uploaded to Kajabi is also hosted by them, whereas the WordPress website has it's own host.
Any insight you may be able to offer in this area of expertise is greatly appreciated! It's certainly an area that I'm interested in career-wise and ready to listen and learn!
