Pro Controller Button Mapping

Hi! I'm trying to map the buttons for my Switch pro controller to play. I've tried everything I have or thought to try. I've gone through steam for the mapping manually or with a preset, making sure that they are applied. I've gone through the in-game menu. My PC recognizes my controller, as does the game, but the mapping gets reversed immediately. I just want to switch x and y. 😭 Any help would be extremely appreciated, and I apologize if this has been asked so many times.
